Why this matters: Breastfeeding success is not determined by technique alone. Maternal micronutrient status—particularly nutrients like vitamin B₁₂, iron, vitamin D, iodine, and choline—shapes milk composition, infant neurodevelopment, and feeding capacity. When we embed micronutrient screening into routine lactation care, we move from reactive troubleshooting to proactive, physiology-informed support.

1. Scope and Goals

Population: Prenatal clients, postpartum dyads (birth–12 months), with emphasis on exclusively or predominantly breastfeeding infants
